The Sanskrit word for the solar plexus chakra is Manipura and can be translated into “the city of jewels”. The colour of third chakra is yellow and the element associated with the solar plexus chakra is fire. The Manipura is located in the solar plexus area and holds your energetic experience of self-esteem, assurance, confidence and willpower. It is our “personal power” chakra. We can say it is the “headquarter” of our personality. The part of our complex being that helps us adapt into the norms of society through our personal strength, adaptability, intentions and willpower.
The Manipura is represented by the sun and thought of as the centre of a person’s strength and vitality. A balanced solar chakra allows you to have healthy boundaries and you are at peace with yourself. You are cheerful and optimistic. You have respect for yourself and of others. You feel comfortable in expressing your feeling with honesty. You trust yourself and have the courage to act if something needs to be improved in your life.
Exactly when this chakra is stable, we feel self-respect and self-compassion. We feel in control, assertive, beyond any doubt. If there is a blockage around the solar plexus chakra, your conviction will be very unreliable. If there is only a little blockage, there may simply be insecurity in one specific area. A greater blockage will cause summed up self-respect issues. You might be convinced by thoughts that you are not good enough. On the other hand, you may feel unfit to accept a supportive lesson from life’s difficulties. Physical difficulties associated with a blocked solar plexus chakra may link issues with memory.
Other symptoms of an unbalanced Solar Chakra might be:

– Low self-esteem
– Distorted self-image
– The need for approval from others
– Shame of having your secrets discovered

Suggestions on how to heal the Solar Plexus Chakra

Physical improvement, especially outside, can help heal the third chakra. Spend time outside getting physically powerful. Go for walks, runs, or bike rides when the sun is out. It will, in general, be especially effective to get outside close to first light or sunset.
Healing the Solar chakra with Color
If you wish to balance your solar plexus chakra, wear yellow. Pass on yellow sun situated plexus chakra healing stones like Amber, Topaz, and Citrine.
Healing the Solar chakra with Element
The element of the solar plexus is fire. It is through the solar plexus we store sun energy charged with prana. When healing the solar plexus, it is recommended to spend time outside and consciously bathe under the sun, and let the light soak this chakra. Visualize it dissolving the irritations. Breath in the sun rays. Allow it to heal your body and fill you up with life force energy.
Another way to heal the solar chakra with the element of fire is to go out in nature and light a campfire. A candle works as well if you do not know how to access nature or make a camp fire.

Healing Solar Chakra with Mindfulness and Meditation
Meditation suggestion:
This meditation and visualization are here to assist you in connecting with the energy of your internal sun and filling yourself up with vitality.
Preparation:
– Remove all devices from the room that is emitting static electricity. This is to hinder any external sources to affect your auric field.
– Light a candle in the room, preferably yellow.
– Put something yellow in front of you if you don’t have a yellow candle.
– Start with doing a relaxation exercise. Suggestion is the one described in the Root chakra section. After the relaxation exercise, sit with your spine straight.
Breath deep and slow. Inhale strength and confidence, exhale fears and anxieties. With every breath you become more and more centered in your body. Feel the solar plexus ebbing and flowing with your breaths.
When breathing in, imagine a bright glittering yellow sun emanating from your solar plexus. Feel the warmth and vitality radiating from your sun.
When breathing out. Imagine that its warming energy is spreading down to your feet and again up to your head.
Keep breathing in this way until you can feel all your uncomfortable emotion and thoughts has left your body and your chakra is balanced.
When you are ready, finish the meditation with an exercise to close and protect the chakra. Verbally ask the solar plexus chakra to close and stay balanced. You do this to protect the chakras and make yourself ready to face the world.
Imagine the chakra is closing to a normal size. Above the solar plexus you place a golden circle with a sun in the center. When you have done this, you can open your eyes and blow out the candle.
